Kennel Club Herding Test

Posted at 07:51 AM on October 15, 2008
The first newly revised Kennel Club Herding Test for Kennel Registered Border Collies was hosted the Midlands Border Collie Club on Sunday, 12th October at Broughton Astley, Leicestershire.  For Show Border Collies to gain a Full Champion title they have to pass this test. The test allows the dogs to show that they are "Fit For Purpose, Fit For Life" retaining their natural instinct and being physically fit to perform their original purpose.

Six dogs took part in this first test, which was also a chance for the organisers to see how this new test would perform and how much interest there would be. Although it was a little disappointing that not more show breeders participated this time, now that the test is under way and more tests are planned, it is hoped that in future more Show Champions will participate.
Of the three dogs that took the test, 50% passed so well done to those !

The weather could not have been better after what has been a very disappointing summer. It was sunny, bright and very warm !  From a photography point, the low, harsh sunlight and strong shadows were a nightmare to contend with, but I did manage to put an album together for the club website, and also have a few images on my photobox gallery.

I also had the pleasure of meeting up with Cesan's litter sister, "Cloud" again and their cousing, "Bree".  Cloud is a little beauty ! Both are owned by Ann Jordan, who was judging on the day.  Unfortunately, Cesan was not with me as he was once more at a Working Trial with Barrie and Kay.

"Cloud"

Bree and Cloud, looking surprised at something!

A report of the test and further images can be found on the Midlands Border Collie Club site.
